James Leo Maloney Jr. was born April 3, 1895, to James Leo Maloney Sr. & Catherine Muldoon in Brooklyn NY. James was baptized in St Michael’s 42nd Street Brooklyn NY by Father Gallagher, Pastor. His Godfather, was Thomas Delaney and his Godmother was  Mrs. Delaney.

James was the third child of James and Catherine Maloney. His siblings were Thomas, Mary, James Jr, Katie (Catherine), John, Helen and George.

His parents were born in Ireland. His father, James Leo Maloney Sr was born in County Clare Ireland to Thomas Moloney,  Lismore and Kittie (Catherine) O’Brien, Truagh. His mother, Catherine Muldoon, was born in Ballyshannon Donegal Ireland to Owen Muldoon, Mayo, and Margaret Timoney, Donegal.

James Maloney and Catherine Muldoon were married January 26th 1890 by Father Gallagher, in St Michael’s Church 42nd St Brooklyn NY. The witnesses were James Muldoon and Mary Martin.

James Maloney Jr. was a Private, Serial number 38437, in the US Army in WWI. He was a member of Company B, 9th Infantry, American Expeditionary Forces, out of Ft Slocum NY. He served in France. He died July 29 1918 in a battle in France. Records indicate he was part of a unit that was Mustard Gassed in 1918. His father had his body shipped home and buried in Calvary Cemetery in Queens NY. He is buried with his parents and sister, Mary Warno (nee Maloney) in Section 34, Range 1, Plot K Grave 13
