James Levins born around 1792 in Magheracloone Carrickmacross Monoghan area was a baronial constable, joining the RIC. In 1824 he was in the Condin and Clongibbons Barony. He worked at Fermoy, Clonmel and Rosscarbery where he married Mary Ann O'Leary (O'Connor). He had 3 children. Catherine Anne Levins b 1840 who was a governess and died in the Clonakilty workhouse of Pthisis in 1869. Ferdinand George Levins b 1841 died 1912 in Manchester was also in the Royal Irish Constabulary; father of 13 children with Honora o'Sullivan. William Joe Levins b 1844 no further records found. James lived and worked in Rosscarbery, Cork. The old barracks in Chapel St Rosscarbery is currently a B&B, the Sergeants cottage is where James lived and his children were born. I stayed in this cottage thanks to it's wonderful hosts.

Death certificate now obtained. Police pensioner died Knockmacran, Magheracloone. Found this is likely his ancestral home.
