James McGlynn (1803-1887) of Creeve was a herdsman in the mid-19th century. The family was in the townland of Erriblagh in 1872 when his son Michael McGlynn married Sara Lavin in Elphin.

Michael & Sara moved next-door to Cartron, adjoining Corbally). By 1901 they living in Portobello ELPHIN. Michael and his son James were also shepherds. 

James McGlynn Jr godparented for Michael.

In 1870 his son Patt McGlynn (shepherd) married Bridget Cullen and this family was recorded in the 1911 Census in the townland of Creeve. That there are no McGlynn siblings godparenting for this couple suggests that they likely emigrated. 

James Sr was a widower living in Creeve with son Patt when he died (age 84) in 1887.
