  • I am looking for my Grt-Grt-Grandmother Joanna Lahart, who came from County Tipperary. I found a Joanna Lahart, father John Lahart, mother Bridget Pollard from Lisnamrock, Parish of Ballingarry. She is the only Joanna Lahart that I have been able to find anywhere in County Tipperary born around 1830 (as I have been told is her birth year). This Joanna Lahart had several siblings...twins Richard and Mary born October 1827, Joanna herself born March 1830, James born October 1832, Catherine born November 1834, and Margaret born March 1837. Is there anything in your family history that would link this Joanna Lahart to yours?

    Thank you,

    Bobbie Hawkes

  • I forgot that Joanna Lahart had one other sibling, Bridget born August 1840, also in Lisnamrock, Ballingarry.

    Thanks,

  • My third great grandmother was Judith lahart she married John Delahunty in 1790.  They too were from lisnamrock Ballingarry.  When they married in 1821, their sponsor was Margaret Lahart. I've also seen sponsors on other family records with the name Pollard.  would love to connect.  I'm new here so I'm not sure how to do that.  I'm on ancestry.com Terri Hutchinson From summit nj.

  • Also... I have The Marraige record for Judith's parents.  I can barely read it as it's from January 19, 1777. However her parents were Catherine Ryan and Richard LeHart.

  • Searching for Patrick Pollard born 1844 est. Patrick was said to be from Tipperary according to oral history. I have done much searching many years back and all seems to point to the Ballingarry area. The only real hard facts I have is that Patrick had at least one brother that I know of named William. Patrick and William emigrated to the US. Patrick appears in the Lexinton, Kentucky around 1873 when he enlisted in the US Army and spent 10years in the Wyoming Territories. There were stories from my Aunts that were passed along that he was rumored to be have known or met Buffalo Bill. No one had passed along that Patrick was a solder in the west but finding his military records lines up with being at the same Forts that Buffalo Bill would have stayed at during the years of 1873-1882.

Patrick eventually returned to NYC or specifically Brooklyn, NY. He began I believe as a clerk with his brother William. Patrick ended up in Brooklyn NY likely because William or other family had already emigrated to NY at some point and he wished to join them. I followed Patrick's movements to different Forts and Camps and at the end of his second enlistment period he transferred to a Fort called Davids Island in the NY Harbor. This is how he ended up back in NY.

Patrick and William went into to Liquor sales and eventually ended up owning a few saloons and a small Hotel at one point.

Patrick married Annie McNamara said to be from County Claire. They married in Brooklyn as best I can tell. They had 3 children.

Anastasia Pollard bn. 1888  , Robert Emmett Pollard  bn. 1890 , Hilda Pollard bn. 1897

1892 Census has them in Brooklyn 6th Ward in or around Union St Near Sackett and Hicks Sts.

Also living with the family at the time was a child named Josephine McNamara who I assume could be a relative of Annie.

Would love to connect to Pollard researchers that may help me locate records for Patrick in county Tipperary and most likely from the around the area of Ballingarry and potentially the area known as Tinnock.

    Any help is greatly appreciated..

    Best regards,

    Patrick Pollard
