Back to List

James Thomas Dolan probably came to the states in 1847 as part of the "Famine Irish".  He was likely born ca.1815 in County Clare or County Galway.

He reportably tended hogs on the boat over to America.

His son, also named James T. Dolan, was born in Baltimore amd enlisted in the Union army in Baltimore, so they may have come through Baltimore.

James T disappeared later and we do not know when or where he died.  One theory is that he went to Colorado or California and the Gold Rush.

Additional Information
Date of Birth 1st Jan 1815 (circa)

  • I am trying to determine if James Dolan was related to my ancestor, Mary Dolan (King) - she was married to Patrick King. They were both Famine Irish and met as immigrants in Boston, where they married.
