My ancestor, Stephen Hansen Wall, was born c. 1815 in Aughrim. I do not know how common the Wall surname is in Co. Galway but I am wondering if there is any connection between your James and my Stephen. Stephen’s parents died when he was a boy and he went to live with relatives (GILL) for a time before emigrating, possibly with a sister, to Canada (and later the U.S.)
