Jane with husband James Stephens & their 7 children migrated to New South Wales onboard the Canton arriving in Sydney New South Wales on the 12th June 1848, Jane was 39 years old & born in Killinkere, Cavan, Ireland.. Unfortunately for Jane 3 years after their arrival in 1851 James died leaving her a widow with some of their young children still to bring up in the Colony of New South Wales....James was born in Dinn Cavan & the 7 their children were born in Killinkere Cavan. Jane remarried 7 years later to widower Thomas Brown. He was also from County Cavan & when his 1st wife Margaret died in 1856 he was left with young children to bring up.
Jane's sister Ann (Smith) Bryson/Bracen arrived in New South Wales, a widow, on 18th April 1864. Jane & her 2nd husband Thomas Brown sponsored Ann & her 2 sons Joseph & Thomas.
