Place of migration
Migrated to /Born in Canada

Jeremiah emigrated to Canda from Cork in May of 1825. He (then 52 year-old) and his family of nine, were part of the Robinson Settlers migrating to then Upper Canada. My g.g. grandfather, Thomas Dwyer with new wife Mary (nee Heffernan) were a part of the family. I live in Canada and am likely to visit Tipperary in the next year or so. Any information or assistance would be so much appreciated.   Francis Dwyer

Additional Information

  • Hi Adding to my first post, I should have mentioned that Jeremiah Dwyer was descrbed as a farmer from Tipperary, Tipperary - meaning I take it from the Tipperary civll parish. HIs wife - whom I asumed died sometime before the family departure was named Alicia Hogan.  Accompanying Jeremiah were Richard (24 yres.), the aforementionded Mary 922) and husband Thomas (20), Edmund (19), John (7), Elenor l(15), Judith (14), Alicia (10) and Denis (5). My ggg. grandfather Thomas, with Mary and baby (John also) jumped ship and remained in Montreal (Mary was in perilous health). Later, John in his mid-twenties or so made it up to Peterborough County, where he settled in Douro, township and eventuall married Elizabeth Hayes. Their son Jeremiah was my grandfather. My father Francis Leonard Dwyer.     Frank
