Jeremiah Kelleher

Jeremiah Kelleher 1844

Back to List

Jeremiah Kelleher was a National School Teacher living in Slumberhill, just outside Mallow. He lived there from 1873 (or earlier) until his death in 1923

He was married to (Jo)hannah O'Leary, son of Daniel O'Leary of Slumberhill in 1873.  She is also listed as a teacher.

On their wedding record, it gives Jeremiah's father as John Kelleher, a shopkeeper in "Beeing", which I believe to be Bweeng.

I would like some information about Jeremiah's birth (1844, according to census) and anything about John, and whoever his wife was.

I did find a reference to a John Kelleher who was the principal of the National School at Glenogue, north of Bweeng, in 1866, but I'm not convinced he is the same. thememorytrail.com/place/3137

I think it is more likely he was principal of the Glashabee National School , though if he was the first principal, he was only born in 1844.....

Jeremiah Kelleher is my son's great-great-great grandfather - we would love to add an extra "great"!
