Johanna O’Neil 1815

Johanna O’Neil 1815

Back to List

Johanna O’NEIL (or Neil or similar) was born around 1815, and married John HONAHAN in Leighlinbridge in 1834. They had a son, William James in 1836, and daughter Mary in 1843. The family moved to Liverpool, England a few (?) years later, where daughter Ann was born in 1847. Johanna died of cholera there. The remaining family members sailed to New York on the ship Montezuma, arriving 17 March 1851. John and his daughters went on to Chicago to live, while William James, age 15, stayed in NY working for a few years, then joined them in Chicago.

I’d love to know more about Johanna O’Neil and her family, where she was born, who her parents were, what they did for a living. Also any information about the Honahan family. (In America their name became Onahan).
