John and sons John, Thomas and William, with sister Susannah Collins Boyle traveled from port of Derry on ship Asia arriving NYC AUG 1829. By the following June of Census year 1830 they are on their own farms in Columbiana County Ohio. Believe they came from Donegal and it would be most likely that Collins/Callens and Boyles lived near each other such that Ed Boyle could meet and marry Susannah Collins. The lastname was recorded as Callens by the ship recorder but appears as Collins in the Census. John-the-Elder signed his will with a "mark" as he could neither read nor write.
