Myself and most of my Australian descendants of John Colhoun/Colquhoun b abt.1820 are trying to locate any family before he left Donegal Ireland. Both he and his mother Anne Murray b abt.1789 were sentenced to 7 years for stealing a chicken. They were sent to Australia in 1838.
Unfortunately we are unable to go back any further than the documentation relating to being transported to Australia. So if anybody else has any stories they could share that may shine some light on the subject it would be greatly appreciated. I have already proven through DNA that I'm related to a lot of the American side of the family.
Y-DNA test results have pinpointed back to Crosh house Colhouns of Ireland.
Big-Y is coming soon which hopefully will shine more light on the subject.
