My 3rd Great Grandfather was John Cosgrove. Based upon my genealogical research, I have traced John Cosgrove back to Limerick City. He and his wife, Theresa M. Dunn, were listed as the parents on my 2nd GGF's (John Patrick Cosgrove) marriage record and death certificate.
John and Theresa were married in Jun 1871 at St. Mary's in Limerick. John's father was Patrick Cosgrove. Theresa's father was John Dunn. Their marriage record stated that they were 18 years old at the time of their marriage. I found an 1853 Limerick baptism record for Theresa. The record stated that her parents were John Dunn and Catherine Connor (her 1890 Watertown, Massachusetts death record stated her parents were John Dunn and Catherine O'Connor). I found an 1854 Limerick baptism record for a John Cosgrove. The record stated that his parents were Patrick Cosgrove and Judith Moloney.
It appears John and Theresa immigrated with several of their children from Ireland to the New York City in United States in 1883. They eventually settled in the Boston area. Theresa died in Watertown, MA in 1890 and I speculate John died in 1906 in Boston.
