John Costigan was my Great Great Grandfather. He was born about 1830 in Kings County (Offaly). I think he had an older brother (7 years older), called Michael Costigan. By 1851 the two brothers had emigrated to the UK (to Manchester). In the UK, John married an Irish girl called Mary and worked as a weaver. They had two sons. John died between 1901 and 1911. One of John and Mary's grandsons was killed in the First World War in the build up to the Battle of Paschendale.
