Edit profile to show place of migration

I am looking for information for a John Cummins who states that he worked / lived in Portarlington. He is registered in the parish of Kildare and Leighlin as John Cummins Son of James Cummins and Bridget McDonald. Baptised on the 19 Feb 1860. Witnessed and Sponsored by William Cummins and Bridget Mc Donald. He states in a hand written note that his father died when he was one year old, and was raised by his Grandmother. I am unsure where Bridget went afterwards, possibly New York, (as this is stated on his Marriage Cert to a Jane Dunne who married in Dublin1889). Johns History in Laois was that he worked as an apprentice painter from Oct 1875 til Oct 1880, for a John Matthews in Portarlington, he then joined the Irish Fusiliers Sept 1881. Thereafter after his discharge joined Guinness, until retirement, He lived in Benburb Street Dublin, until his wife death (Jane Dunne 1861-1936 Laois), thereafter lived with his son William in Rathmines Dublin.

The information I am looking for is the background of his Father "James Cummins & Bridget McDonald, circa1830  I have a Bridget from 1861, 25/8/1835 • Tullow, Carlow, Queens County, Ireland Death Unknown. But unsure if that's exact, as the diocese is fairly large covering a few counties, I cannot find his death or marriage certs, and his Mother Bridget Mc Donald, where did she go after his death. Who was his Grandmother Mc Donald, who raised him? Who was she, who was her family, what was her history, was it in Laois/Carlow/Portarlington

In hopeful anticipation...
Des Cummins
