I am thinking this John De Vere Hunt is most likely connected to the De Vere Hunts that are connected to my family. I wonder if you have had a dna test done? Some of us have tested.

John Devere Hunt was a farmer and land owner of his farm "Hunts Grove" near Toomeyvarra and Templederry, He was a guardian of the Nenagh workhouse and involed in the affairs of the district. He refused to evict any of his tennants during the infamous Toomyvarra clearances and was involved in setting up welfare shelter and food for the poor evicted souls.
The economic circumstances of the times made his land holdings unviable, his eldest son Matthew was left to try and make a go of the farm and John emigrated with his Family to Victoria, Australia in 1849, He died on that voyage, His wife Catherine Winifred Kennedy settled her family in Melbourne and later returned to Ireland where she later died.
His daughter Theresa was my GGGarandmother.

Hi, I wonder if you are related to this John de Vere Hunt whose daughter Mary Anne Hunt married Denis Crowe in 1847 at Templederry, Ireland. Their daughter Kate Teresa Crowe married Stephen Fogarty (Draper of Templemore, Tipperary) and they had eight children:

Yes, Mary Anne Crowe is John DeVere Hunts Daughter. I believe she stayed in Ireland as well as her brother Matthew who kept working Huntsgrove farm. The rest came to Australia. I was told Catherine her mother returned to Ireland and stayed with Mary Anne.
I have a picture of Mary Anne and one of Catherine.
