John Dolan married Anna Nevin (b. 1840 Kilteevan, Roscommon) on May 10, 1866 in Cam & Kiltomb Roman Catholic Church in Roscommon. John was living in Ballybay at the time. They sailed to U.S. 3 months later (Aug 1866) and lived in New Jersey.

Anna Nevin's parents were John Nevin (b. 1806 Kilteevan) and Maria Brehenny (b.1811 Boyle). She had a sister Elizabeth (b. 1846). The Brehennys lived in DeerPark Townland in Boyle, Roscommon.
