John Egan was born on March 2, 1846, in County Kerry, Ireland, the child of James and Mary.
He married Mary Kelly on May 29, 1864, in Loughrea, Galway, Ireland. In Loughrea they had nine children with seven surviving.
The family immigrated to Boston, Massachusetts, USA on the SS Prussian in 1883.
John died on October 6, 1909, in Springfield, Massachusetts, at the age of 63, and was buried in St Michaels Cemetery, Springfield, Massachusetts.
