In a letter written by a great neice in abt 1900:  The Dixon and Gordon families were compelled to leave Ireland during the Eniscorthy Rebellion.  My grandmother was Elizabeth Dixon until she married Grandfather John Gordon.  A brother of Grandfather Gordon, Thomas Gordon, an Episcopalian clergyman, the mob caught him, shaved his head,  until he reached the Wexford Bridge, there they ran sixteen pikes in his body, the last one he broke in his agony.  They threw his body into the Burn Maker (sp?)....the Dixon and Gordon families were leaving Ireland, they were compelled to hide by day and travel at night until they reached the ship. They had dug ditches and buried all of their possessions.  All they possessed were the clothes that they were wearing.
