John was born about 1788 in Ennis, County Clare. He married Mary Foley born about 1796, also in County Clare. They emmigrated to Canada in 1835 and settled in Tweed, Hastings, Ontario where they farmed and rasied their family. Daughter, Eleanor Ellen (1822-1884),married Joseph Woodcock (1805-1886). Son, John Joseph (1829-1897,) married Amy Delyea (1830_1900).
They are buried in St Edmund's Roman Catholic Cemetery, Stoco, Hastings, Ontario.
