John Hayes : Short Biography

John Hayes was born in 1853 in Loughgall County Armagh Ireland. The birth date source is multiple US census that all have 1853 as well as the information provided on his marriage entry to Christiana Montgomery that also has his parrents name on it.

He was the son of John Hayes and Mary McShane. John and Mary married in Loughgall in 1844

John had a brother James who was supose to have been born 2 Feb 1847 in Loughgall, but the records in Ireland said he was born Jan 30. .i guess they probably did not carry around paper birth certificates back then :  ) They had a sister Mary who was born in 1849.

There is a John and Mary who died in Loughgal whoes headstone list dates that "could " be them that also list a daughter Mary with her husband and childrens names on the monument that says the monument was errected by John and Mary's sons John and James.

if these were not common names I would assume they are all the right people, AND they are the only Hayes family that lived in Loughgall,

They are burried in the "Loughgall Nondenominational Cemetery" according to the death and burrial records found online, i would love a photo of the headstone but the cemetery (if that is what it is still called) is not showing up on Findagrave.com or Billiongraves.com.

James and John were supose to have learned the profession of gardening from their father and both went to America and Were gardeners themselves with James ending up owning Greenhouses in Topeka Kanses, USA, specializing in carnations and John being the Gardener for a large estate in his final working years in West Orange, Essex County, New Jersey..James had a nice biography that included his life in Ireland before he went to America I would love to find a city directory for around 1870 that said the father was a gardener or owned a greenhouse..
