John Joseph Cronin : Short Biography

John Cronin married Maria Frawley on 24 Aug 1839 at Cratloe, Clare, Ireland (DIocese Limerick) - John Cronin noted as Innkeeper on Bridget's marriage certificate. John and Maria (Mary) had a number of children including two daughters:

1. Bridget Cronin born about 1857 at Six Mile Bridge Parish, Clare, Ireland.  Bridget age 18 immigrated on the "Sepia" departing London 4 Feb 1875 via Queenstown, Ireland – arriving 18 June 1875, Rockhampton, Queensland.  Capt. Munro.  Dr. J. W. Littler, Surgeon-Superintendent.

Bridget Cronin, age 21, Housemaid married Robert John Andrew McMaster, Widower, Mail Contractor and former property owner, age 44, on 18 Sep 1878 at the Landsborough Hotel, Muttaburra, Queensland (#00586).  Both lived at Muttaburra. Rites Church of England. Witnesses Thomas Lewis & Isabella McAnauly. Celebrant Frederick Richmond.

Robert McMaster was born 1 Jun 1831 Achetenny, Argyleshire Scotland. He died 21 Nov 1903 Rockhampton, Queensland.  After her husband died, Bridget McMaster moved to Victoria to live with her married daughter Amelia Lucy Diblin.  Bridget McMaster died 12 Mar 1935 at St. Kilda, Victoria, Australia with issue:

4. Amelia Lucy McMaster 1887–1968

​2. Catherine Ester Cronin born 24 Apr 1859 at Six Mile Bridge, Cratloe, Co Clare, Ireland. 

Catherine married widower, Edmund Henry Butler born c1836, Widower, Manager of Western Creek Station, Turrallin, Pine Creek, Queensland on 9 Jun 1884 at Muttaburra, Queensland.  Edmund Butler died in 1906. After her husband died Catherine Ester Butler move to Melbourne, living with some of her children in Melbourne and St. Kilda, Victoria.  Catherine died 12 Oct 1935 at St. Kilda, Victoria with issue:

1. Thomas John Butler 1886–1966 –  Station Manager
2. Henry Edmund Butler 1887–1957 – Public Servant, Gentleman, Army Colonel.
3. Frances Catherine Queenie Butler 1889–1908
4. Norman Patrick Pierce Butler 1889– 1959 Clerk, Bank Accountant.
5. Elsie Emily Butler 1891–1949
6. Leslie Carrick Butler 1899–1985 Police Constable
