John Joseph Griffin was the son of Jeremiah Griffin and Mary Moriarity living in Kinard West ca. 1840's onward. John immigrated to Boston, MA in the late 1860's for a short time before taking up permanent residence in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. He married Bridgett Margaret Kennedy (b. 28 Jun 1855, Ardamore, Kerry, Ireland; d. 28 Jun 1940, Halifax, Canada). John's brother, Jeremiah Francis Griffin (b. 2 May 1855, Kinard West, Kerry, Ireland) also relocated to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada and is buried there.
