  • Delighted to see the photo.

The parents of John Kinirons, the baker, are incorrect - my research shows his parents as Richard and Kate Kinirons and his birth was about 1838

Thomas and Winnie Kinirons had a son John born in 1845 whihc may explain the confusion.

  • Liam, if you look at his gravestone it states he died in 1945 aged 73.  This would put his birth at 1872.  If he was born in 1838, he would have been 107 years old.  I wonder if you've gone a generation further back.  It's great that there's comments here as debate sorts things out, while comments add to the information.  Please keep them coming!

  • Great to hear from you - if my response caused confusion please accept my apologies.

My comment was intended to make clear that I was referring to the father of John Kinirons NT (1871-1945) also named John

This John Kinirons was a baker, lived from about 1838 until 1905, married twice, second time with Mary Butler in 1868.

In the initial comments on the site it was indicated that this John (the baker), was the son of Thomas Kinirons (1813-1876) and Winifred Maher (1816-1872).

My research clearly shows he was the son of Richard Kinirons (1815-1865) and Catherine/Kate Tierney(1820-1899).

The likely source of confusion is that Thomas and Winnie had a son named John, born in 1845 and who died in 1931.

It is not certain but seems likely that Richard and Thomas were closely related and were probably brothers.

Hope this clears up the matter.

Thanks for your interest and support

  • John Kinirons NT was one of at least 13 children born to John Kinirons the baker - during two marriages - 6 boys and 7 girls.

Two of the sons and five of the daughters went to the US and settled in and around New York. The daughters married men from Tipperary - Spearmans (2) from Cloughjordan, Flannery from Toomevara, Ryan from Borrisoleigh and Duff from near Thurles.

The daughter who remained in Ireland married a Flannery from Toomevara, a brother of the Flannery her sister married in NY.

John Kinirons NT had two sons with his first wife and both of these men migrated to the New York area where they settled and raised families.

  • Actually think I may be wrong, my Great Uncle, James Kinirons was also a baker. His father John Kinirons the baker is my Great Great Grandfather, but perhaps this James the Teacher is a son from the first marriage.

  • One son of John Kinirons (abt 1839-1905), the baker from Toomevara, and his second wife Mary Butler (abt 1845-1912) was James born March 1875. Per the 1901 census he was a baker and he married Julia Breen of Abbey St Roscrea in Feb 1918.  I have no details of children of this couple and would love to hear from you - see my email address above.
