John Lyons was the son of Alexander Lyons. Both men were boot, shoemakers in Coleraine . John's mother is unknown at this time. No sibling information either. John married Margaret Dempsey on Nov. 24 1854 at the 2nd Dunboe Presbytherian Church in the Parish of Dunboe, County Derry . The witnesses at their wedding were James Miller and Edward Dougherty.Their first four children were born in Coleraine: Isabella 1855 , Margaret 1857, and Joseph 1859, Jane 1862. It is unknown where the births of Minnie (abt 1862) and Eliza (abt 1867) occurred. Their sons John (b.1868), Alexander (b. 1869) and Samuel Rogers (b.1872) were all born in Rosemount Derry. By 1877 the family had moved to Belfast, except for Isabella who had died in Rosemount in 1875.John died at the age of 60, of tuberculosis ,at his home- 23 Essex St. Belfast.
