  • Further info on my gg grandparents John Magner and Elizabeth McSweeney:

Elizabeth McSweeney was born in Mallow in about 1830-1834 (death certificate says she was 83 on her death in 1913) her father is thought to be Edward McSweeney, a carpenter, and her mother is possibly Mary (surname unknown).

John Magner's death certificate info was given by his brother Michael and stated his father was Thomas Magner, farmer, and mother Mary Sullivan. I have tried looking for records of the family in Mallow but with no success except for the below.

I found a marriage between Michael Magner and Catherine Mullane in Cloyne Parish Mallow Cork 29 September 1855, witnessed by John Mullane and Charles Daly. They arrived in Sydney 1858 and then Michael sponsored his brother John and his family to emigrate from England in 1863 to Sydney. Their son Thomas was born in Sydney in 1859 (NSW baptism 3735/1859 VOL 142B) parents Michael and Catherine Mullan, married Ada Peratt in 1904 and died 1933.

I am sure there must be more children of Thomas and Mary because of the age difference between Michael 1816 and John 1830 but I need some help please to find more info.

    Many thanks
