John Morrow was born on 17 March 1819 in Lagnahourie, Kilmacrenan, Donegal. He married Eliza Jane Duncan in 1835 at Letterkenny. In 1850 with his wife and two oldest daughters, he travelled on the Barque Creole to Pennsylvania, where he was joined by his younger three daughters and presumably, his sister, Mary, in 1851. He had a total of ten children, one died in infancy, and another died as a child. John left a will leaving property to his children and grandchildren in Manayunk, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and he passed in 1904 at the age of 84.
