In 1847, three sons of John Murphy and Bridget Ryan Murphy set out for American. We know from family history that they had six sons. We know very little about the three sons who remained in Ireland. They were John Ryan Murphy, James Murphy, and Daniel Murphy. The Murphy children were raised in County Limerick, Ireland in an area called Ballinlaugh. I wonder if my great grandfather's tombstone misspelled Ballinglaugh. The parish church has burned down so it has been difficult to gather family history beyond the children of Bridget and John Murphy who left Ireland. Ballinlaugh is the name given to a common grazing area for cows in County Limerick.
