He had at least 4 siblings: Samuel b 1854, Agnes b 1860, Margaret b 1862 and Elizabeth Morrow Stewart b 1864. All were born in the same area. John Stewart married Ellen Gregory from Newtownards and lived around the Newtownards Rd area until his death in 1939.
John Stewart was a caulker in the shipyard.
