My gggrrandmother was Julia McNally. She married Peter Malia/Mally/O'Malley around 1853/4 in New York (I think). I think she might have immigrated to New York City around 1852. They lived in the Scranton, Pennsylvania area from around 1853 through 1880 and then moved to Mason County, Illinois; when they remained the remainder of their lives. Through DNA testing I recently learned I am a match with Michael Lavelle, who lives in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. His grandfather was Patrick McNally, born in 1829. I think it is likely that McNally might be our common DNA connection. If so, his grandfather and my gggrandmother, Julia (born 1835), might be cousins or even siblings. Patrick was from the township of Cloonkeen, Kilmeena Parish, County Mayo. I knew Julia was from County Mayo; but I didn't know her parent's names of which parish she was from. Michael tells me that there are very few remaining records for that time period for Kilmeena Parish. If anyone has any information about a Julia McNally, born about 1835 in Kilmeena Parish (or nearby), I would appreciate them contacting me.
