  • Interesting. My Grandfather was from Limerick. His name was John Dickinson. Be interesting to know the genealogy of the Dickinson surname in Limerick.

  • Hi John, good morning from north- east Scotland. Can I ask if you know your grandad John's father/mother's name, siblings as there are a few John's in this family. I see you have posted a photo of the Limerick Leader newspaper with my great, grandad Lawrence Dickinson and two of his xons Thomas (my great grandad) and Jack (John) Dickinson.

    Best wishes

    Ann Dickinson McHugh.

  • A bit of a long shot this but unfortunately very little family history to go by. Discussion in family suggested a family member working in the print industry in Limerick at the turn of the last century but I wonder if that was incorrect.

My fathers name was Joseph and I believe his fathers name was John. The address associated with the family was  Browns Lane Limerick, a pretty impoverished neck of the woods. That apart very little info as my father was unforthcoming. He had 3 sisters Nancy Mary and Nora.

When my brother died a Tony Dickinson turned up at the funeral along with Tommy Carmody's father. I had never heard mention of Tony prior to this. I understand he had a brother called Christy and both were associated with Young Munster rugby club. Not sure what the family connections are here. There was also an Al Finucane (football player) who  was referred to as being a cousin.

Above apart no other family information available.
