Hello to all you possible cousins out there. My name is Deirdre Gavin Bradway. All four of my grandparents were of Irish descent so I didn't have one of the surprising revelations about my ancestry that I always see on the Ancestry.com TV ads. :) DNA confirmed I'm Irish.
My great grandfather, Lawrence Mannion was born 02 Nov 1866 in Dunmore Parish, Gortnagoyne which is just outside Tuam in County Galway. The copy I have of Lawrence Mannion’s birth certificate indicates that his father, Darby Mannion, was a carpenter. Lawrence’s mother’s name was Catherine Donelan (I’ve seen various spellings). The birth was witnessed by her mother whose name was Mary. Based on the records I found in the Tithe Applotment Books, in 1833 the Donelan family (spelled Donnolin in the records) had several households in Gortnagoyne area.

It's a bit difficult to read, but it looks like Thomas Donnolin farmed 20 acres, James and Edward each farmed 6 acres and John Donnolin farmed 9 acres.
I'd love to hear from anyone who might have a connection to the Gortnagoyne Donelans or the Mannions, Gavins, Kenny's, O'Briens, Reid's, Sheridan's, O'Reilly's or Conniker's. I noticed there was a Tracey on the applotment book for Gornagoyne -- I've got some of those in my family tree as well, just not sure how they fit in.
