Lawrence NEVILLE born Newmarket, County Clare.
Lawrence was born circa 1850 in Newmarket, County Clare to Lawrence Neville and Mary nee O’Brien. Lawrence snr was a harness maker. I have found a Lawrence Neville (using the Griffiths Valuation 1855) in the Barony of Bunratty Lower, Union of Ennis, Parish of Tomfinlough, Townland of Newmarket. He was the tenant of Lord Inchiquin, the property contained a house and yard. There appear to be 3 in a row with Lawrence in the middle. However, I do not know if this is the correct Lawrence snr. Lawrence jnr. came to Australia in 1864 aboard the “Champion of the Seas”, he came with his older sister Margaret (circa 1846). They are listed as English, but all other records have them as Irish.
Lawrence married Mary Maher and they had 9 children, 4 of whom died in childhood.
Bridget 1871, Margaret 1872, Lawrence 1874, Marie 1875, James Patrick 1878, Catherine 1881, Thomas 1882, Elizabeth 1883 and William Matthew 1887.
