Sometime around 1816, James W. Brandon of Drumkeeran, Fermanagh County emigrated from Ireland with his wife Eleanor Sproul to Ontario. They brought five children - Mary, Thomas, Letitia, John Wesley, and Matthew. In the new world, Mary and Letitia married two Irish brothers named Robert and John, respectively. They were both farmers, and settled near Kingston, Ontario. We have extensive documentation on the McVetys and Brandons in Canada and the US, but have hit a brick wall in tracking down their roots in Ireland. With the help of a professional genealogy researcher, we have located one baptismal record for a Thomas McVeity (son of Robert and Mary) in the town of Petigo and see on this site that there is another for James W. Brandon in Births Recorded in St. Marys Church, Ardess (Parish of Magheraculmoney) Co. Fermanagh. We would appreciate any help in finding records relating to the McVetys and/or Brandons of County Fermanagh. Thanks!

Robert McVety's tombstone says nothing about his place of origin, unfortunately. It reads:
"Be ye also ready" / In memory of / Robert McVety (?Sr) / Died Dec. 22, 1869 / Aged 72 yrs. / Also / Mary Ann McVety / Daughter of the above / Died Sept. 26, 1869 (born 1852) (age broken off)
This gravestone is in Turner's cemetery, Lot 29, C3, Tuckersmith Twp, Huron Co, Ontario, Canada: Transcription by Huron County Branch OGS
Range F, Lot 3: #80. McVETY (white marble). I have just requested a photo of the stone from Find-a-Grave.
