Lettita Stinson was born 1851 Cavan Ireland, Her father John was 25. She married John Patterson in1870 in Cootehill when she was 19. Left for Canada from Moville Ireland to Glasgow Scotland, Arrived in Quebec May 13 1880. They had 12 children. She Died in 1928 in Muskoka Ontario at age 77.

Hello Elspeth, I am trying to research my Irish ancestors, who come from Cavan (Ashfield, maybe). The two I am most interested in are Mary Stinson, born in 1824/25, who emigrated to Ontario, Canada, probably in the 1840s. She married William Hammill (or Hamill or Hamell or Hamel) who also emigrated to Ontario. They raised a family there and died there, William died in 1890, Mary in 1911. I am a descendant of these two, on my mother's side. My great grandfather, George Hammill, moved west to Victoria, BC and his daughter Florence was my grandmother. She married an Englishman in 1922 and although my mother was born in Victoria, the family soon moved to England and stayed. We still have relations in BC. The brother of Florence was Herbert Stinson Hammill (known as Uncle Stin), so there is a Stinson connection there. Does any of this strike a bell with you? Regards, Peter Stanbrook.
