Lydia Sharp(e) was baptized 15 August 1813 in the Parish of Drumgoon, County Cavan. They were Church of Ireland. Her parents were Samuel and 'Bel" (maiden name unknown) Sharp(e). Lydia married Ephraim Hewitt, date and place unknown. Nothing is know, at all, about Ephraim Hewitt, his parents, siblings or place of origin. Ephraim, Lydia and their children Ephraim, William, Isabella and Ann immigrated to the United States via Liverpool aboard the S/S Saranak and arrived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in May 1860. In September of the same year Lydia gave birth to daughter Elizabeth.
