Margaret Gleeson was born on June 6, 1853, in Drangan, Tipperary, Ireland. (She is sometimes confused with Margret Gleeson who lived for some time with her brother, John, and who died in Thurles.) This Margaret's parents were William Thomas Gleeson and Ellen Mara. Margaret married John St. John in 1874 in Tipperary, Ireland. They had eleven children during their marriage. William Patrick was the third son. Margaret Gleeson St John died on August 14, 1938, in Tipperary, Ireland. (Some researchers report that she died in December 1936.) Her gravesite may be in Ballingarry Parish (Slievardagh), County Tipperary.
