  • I think there might be a bit of confusion here. Not sure what Mar's maiden name actually was but have never seen anything like Togaraul in this area. Eldest son born 1844 was William (not John James Harvey- he was born 1885 in Canada, son of William's brother John Forgrave born c1845). Other children in the family were Jane (c1849), Thomas (c1852), Robert (c1856), Sarah (c1853), Margaret (c1859 but baptised 1861), Elizabeth (c1861, baptised with Margaret), James (c1864), James (1867).

  • Wow! Thank you for finding four additional children, and for getting better birth years!! I will add William, Sarah, Elizabeth, and the "first" James (I would think he might have passed away before the "second" James was born?)

I believe Jane and Jenny would be the same child (I had only an estimated birth year from a Canadian Record, but I know Jenny is often a nick name for Jane.

I had found a record for John Forgrave showing he was born in Hillside, Garvagh, Errigal in 1844/45 (maybe from Groni, as I can not locate it now.) and I believe it used all those names, and that the John James Harvey Forgrave born in Canada in 1885 would be a Junior.

In all the family records I have seen, I have only once seen Margaret's last name anything other than Forgrave. But on Margaret Forgrave Hutchinson's (the daughter's) death record, it lists what appears to be Togaraul (that is the image I uploaded, with her name in it) as her mother's maiden name. I had also seen one Canadian record listing the mother Margaret's first name as Margaritta. That made me think maybe she was of Italian descent (some of her descendents have a destinct "olive" complexion, that can not be explained by other marriages.)

We knew for sure that John and Margaret were brother and sister, as there are descendants who grew up with each other. That led us to find the others we had found. But wow! Thanks for finding the others!
