Maria (Mary) HIGGINS was born abt 1834 Athlone, Rosscommon. At age 16 Maria was in the Westmeath Workhouse with sister Margaret (14), orphaned, whose parents were Timothy HIGGINS and Margaret DUNN. Maria and Margaret were sent to Sydney, Australia under the Earl Gray Scheme arriving 29 July 1850 on the ship 'Tippoo Saib', the 3rd last ship to arrive at the end of this scheme. I have been unable to locate Maria's birth/baptism or her parents marriage.
