Martin Rooney was a farmer/laborer, likely on the same farmstead/land in Rahard his father tended. Records show the Rooneys lived in Athenry area for generations. Martin married Margaret Rooney (nee ?) and lived in Lisheenkyle West, Aughrim. On the 1911 census, it showed they had six children: James, Patrick, Martin, Mary, Delia and Julia. Records also show Martin's father, Michael Rooney sr., lived with them in 1901, two years prior to his death. (Michael lived in Athenry.)
