  • It is easy to get confused by you Moran Ancestors rhere were at least three Domick Moran familiues having children in the 1960's and 1870's. My belief is your Mary better known as Maria was born to Domnick Moran and Ann Cleary in Rosgallive on 24 april 1868 Domnick was a Blacksmith on the the birth record. On the marriage record he is a smith. It is easy to get confused with Dominick Moran Doughill, which is in the parish of Burrishoole, Dominick of Burrishoole did not move. The marriage was in Ballycroy that is where Knockmoyleen is. I am satisfied that your ancestor married out of Knockmoyleen and not out of Doughill but it is easy to believe otherwise. What was unusual at the time for a girl to marry at 16 and  Dominick was only 18 but his father was dead. the two families live a long way from each other. It was obviously a match. A John Moran who I believe was a brother of Dominick srttled in Roskeen North in the parish of Burrishoole. The descendants of John are still in Roskeen north and descndants of Dominick are still in Knockmoyleen.
