Migrated to/Born in Australia

I am looking for information about Mary Ann Conron, daughter of Charlotte Falkiner,of an old Irish family of Bushy Park and Mount  Falkiner, seven miles from Nenagh.  She married James Walter Swords from Deal, England in 1839 in Nenagh Church (which I don't know) by the Hon Ludlow Tonson, Lord Bishop of Killaloe by special licence.  The parish and family minister had refused to marry the young couple alleging that he would not be party to sending a delicately nurtured young creature to a land of savages.  Mary Ann & James  Walter Swords emigrated to Australia in March 1840.

I would appreciate any information about her ancestors, Bushy Park & Mount Falkiner, etc. & which church they were married in.

I am Mary Ann & James Walter's great great granddaughter.

  • Hi,  I saw their ship record on the "Mary Anne" 1840 names stated were William (parents Charlotte and Walter) and Margaret (parents Michael and Mary Cody)
This is Mount Falcon House, you will see a small window on the left of the door, same on the right, this was the kitchen. I had tea inther many times with my Grandmother.
The last Falkiner to live there was Elizabeth she sold the house 1920's to 1930's and went to Dublin. The family that bought it their sons are still living there.

Bushy Park house no longer there.

I don'tknow about the Church in Nenagh but most Falkiner's from Mount Falcon had their services in Ardcroney Church. Which was moved to Bunratty Castle some years ago.
