I only have information from other family trees to go on for the part of Mary Ann's life before she and her husband, John McKinnie (McKenna?) emigrated from Ireland to West Kilbride, Ayrshire, Scotland. Her surname is alternatively given as McGhie. Six of their seven children were born in Ireland. The arrival in Scotland took place sometime between 1845 (daughter Rosanna born in Ireland in 1845) and 1848 (seventh child, William, born in West Kilbride in 1848. I have given some more details on the children's birth in my Ancestor entry for John. Mary Ann was born in Ireland in 1805 and died in West Kilbride on 10/10/1876. I don't know for sure where she was born, but it was possibly in County Donegal, perhaps in Taughboyne parish. There is a probable marriage record for Mary Ann and John, dated 30/10/1826, which took place in Taughboyne, County Donegal.
