Place of migration
Migrated to/Born in Australia
Mary Anne Noonan and sister Sarah Jane Noonan born in Cork both around 1813 emigrated to Australia as part of th Earl Gray scheme. The sisters came on the RED ROVER.
Attaching to this record a news paper article from "THE SOUTHERN REPORTER AND CORK CHRONICLE" dated 10th June 1835. Mary Anne had written back to her mother in Cork giving an update to her and her sisters lives. A very remarkable and highly unusual letter as it was generally considered that the young ladies on the scheme were orphaned, yet Mary Anne and Sarah Jane clearly have a living mother named Ann Noonan and she also states she wishes her regards be given to her grandfather.....clearly not orphans.
