Born about 1811 in Prior Parish to Denis and Julia McCarthy (based on her death certificate and gravestone), Mary McCarthy married Jerimiah Carey and they had at least one child, Hannah Carey.
Hannah came to the USA in 1857 as did Mary but not necessarily in the same year. Not sure if Jeremiah came as well. Hannah met and married another Irish immigrant, Michael T. Spellman in Connecticut in 1868. They had 8 children, one who was adopted, and five more who survived, including James F. Spellman Sr. (my grandfather).
Mary died in 1975 and is buried in Old St. Miichaels Cemetery in Pawcauck, CT.
