Mary Elizabeth (sometimes Eustelle) Veronica McDonough (known as Maisie) was born 26 August 1893, the second eldest child of John J. McDonough and Elizabeth McCarthy McDonough in Fall River, Massachusetts. Her older sister had died at birth in 1891. Maisie was the only daughter and was a noted self-taught piano player. As a 17 year old, she had contracted typhoid fever and was given last rites, but she survived and lived well into old age. She was educated locally in Fall River schools and became a teacher in the Fall River school system. In 1905, her father became a Superior Court Judge in Bristol County, and served with distinction until his death in 1912. Maisie had three younger siblings: John, Joseph and Paul. She married Roger Harrington in 1924 in Fall River. Mary and Roger Harrington ran a local business for many years until Roger died suddenly. Maisie later returned to teaching in Fall River. She continued to live in the city for the rest of her life and was very close to her nieces and nephews. She died on 16 September 1979 aged 86 and is buried in St. Patrick's Cemetery in Fall River.
