Mary Ellen Eastway was my Great Grandmother born in 1884. Her Father John Eastway (English) married Ellen Moynihan - Father John Moynihan and mother Ellen O'Sullivan. John was born in Gortroe.
Ellen Moynihan was married to John Scannell but he passed in 1881 and they had 1 daughter - Bridgit Scannell (my great Aunt). My Uncle Bill Eastway lived in Fermoy all his life and Mary Ellen moved to London in 1949 where she passed away in the 80's.
I am at a bit of an impasse with the Moynihans.... I think his father was Daniel Moynihan but not confirmed. They lived on Barracks Hill and at some point John and Ellen were publicans. There a court records of them serving out of hours and not sure where that pub might have been. Would like to find that out.
Would love to connect with you if you have any information or can help in my research. I am in Canada but have visited Fermoy twice..... The last time was in 2000 and it has been too long since then and would live to get back soon.
My Dad William was born there in 1916 and his nick name was Hickory! He left in 1934, joined the Royal Artillery and then The Royal Scots Greys.... and he never came back until we took him there in 1998..... By then his memory was failing but we did run into Sean O'Mahoney and visited with Jim O'Keefe (both childhood buddies).
