Mary Hynes was born in Loughrea, County Galway in 1858.  She married James Lysaght in 1878 and emigrated to Boston in 1892.  She had 5 children and was pregnant with her 6th while crossing the Atlantic.  She died of heart problems in 1894, having lost her 6th child shortly after birth to pneumonia, leaving her husband a widower with 5 children.
