My great, great grandmother Mary Johnson was born abt. 1837 in Drogheda, Louth and migrated to Australia arriving on 06 Jun 1866 on the ship "Peerless". Her immigration papers state that her parent's James and Rose Johnson were living in Rope Walk, Drogheda in 1866. Mary had at least one sibling - James Johnson bapt. 02 Sep 1843 in St Peter's Catholic Church, Drogheda.
I don't have any information on James Johnson senior's birth or parents but Rose Corbally was bapt. 05 Mar 1817 in St Peter's Catholic Church, Drogheda daughter of Patrick Corbally and Mary Mahon or Mahony. Rose had at least one sibling - Anne Corbally born about 1813 who married Patrick Hughes on 09 Aug 1840 in St Peter's Catholic Church, Drogheda.
Anne Hughes nee Corbally and her husband Patrick Hughes migrated to Australia arriving on 11 Mar 1841 on the ship "Glenswilly" and were living in Surry Hills, NSW when Mary arrived in 1866.
Mary married Samuel Elliott on 18 May 1873 in Gladstone, Macleay River District and they had 4 children Charles Joseph 1875; Rosanna Mary 1876 (my great grandmother) Margaret Agnes (Maggie) 1878; and Samuel James 1881.
Mary died on 16 Aug 1923 at her daughter Maggie's house in Campsie and was buried in the Catholic Section of Rookwood Cemetery, Lidcombe, NSW Australia

I had to stop. She looks like my mother who's last name was Mahoney.

Hello. I am researching the Johnson family from Drogheda (Parish, mainly St. Peter's), and came across this photo.
Thank you for sharing it.
I haven't got this Mary on my tree yet, because I keep getting brick walls and don't want to add somone until I'm postive - - this is my DNA we're talking about! :)
Do you have any John Johnson on your tree? He would (maybe) be a Nephew of this Mary in the photo.
At the moment, my records are in Magdalene Street in Westgate... tying up to the Lamb family.
I joined this site just to ask about this, and I look forward (aka: very excited!) to your reply.
Kind regards to you.
Thanks for your reply and I'm very excited to connect with another Johnson researcher!
I don't know who my James Johnson's parents were and therefore don't have a John Johnson in my tree however there was a James Johnson who leased a house at 71 Magdalene Street in 1851 which may be my 3x great grandfather and therefore he could be connected to your Johnson family in Magdalene Street.
Can you please send me any information on your John i.e. birth year, place and parent's names?
Looking forwarding to hearing back from you.
Jen.
