Migrated to/Born in Australia

Mary Josephine Flynn was born to William Flynn and Elizabeth Haydon on 17 March 1837, in Kanturk, Cork, Ireland.

Emigrated to Australia before 1865. (Possible immigration from Liverpool to Melbourne on the ship Empress of the Seas in 1864, however, many Mary Flynns are found in ships lists to Australia).

Moved to Yackandandah, Victoria, Australia before 1866.

Married Peter Sørensen Witt on 26 February 1866 in Yackanddandah, Victoria, Australia.

Died 9 July 1895 in Carrathool, New South Wales, Australia.

Parents might have lived in Peacock Lane, Kanturk, Cork, Ireland. In the Valuation Office Books 1824-1856, two entries for William Flynn were found with a house and yard, on Lot 33 and lot 37, Peacock Street, Kanturk, Clonfert Parish, in the Valuation Office Books – Field Book 1846. Date of Valuation 30 Sep 1846. Looking at entries in 1848, it is believed that these might have been rented by the same person as one was a Forge Office and the other bigger one, a house and garden. Also in the same street on Lot 31 was another Flynn with garden, house and office.

On 26 May 1846, there were still two William Flynns on Peacock Street, Kanturk. At No. 35 was William Flynn, Forge Office, Yearly rent 2;17.6. (Lessor)Thade Hubbart. At no. 39 was William Flynn house. Lessor, D. C. Bastible Esq. in the House Book.
